COVID-19

16 March 2020

Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority are currently developing contingency plans in regards to the impact of COVID-19 (Corona Virus).  This includes the impact felt by agents and importers. As agents and importers develop contingency plans for their own businesses there will naturally be some questions in regards to how Port Health processes may change in the face of this global pandemic. Any changes that we agree have to be made in line with central competent bodies in central government.  If we receive formal notification on any agreed changes these will be communicated out here on our website. Making rigid contingency plans is not the best way forward in these circumstances as we may need to dynamically adapt at short notice.  I appreciate that this will not assist in developing plans, however we have a responsibility to ensure that we do not reduce the importance of the checks we do at the border control post. When changes are agreed that affect our external customers, we will again communicate this on our website.  Please refrain from calling the office in relation to this matter as we work through these issues. We encourage you to sign up to the email notification system through our website were we will be able to update you via this tool Your patience in this matter is appreciated.
